In 2002 Barclays Bank decided
to close their branch in the Village
of Braunton. I saw the
site as an ideal location for a Learndirect ICT centre.
Although reputed to be the
largest village in England,
Braunton has a growing community, presently 12,000.
Using personal contacts I formed a small group of like minded people including
councillors and businessmen. £90,000 was raised and the centre is now fully
operational.
1996- to present day, NVQ, BTEC and Keyskills, external verifier,
assessor and moderator for Edexcel/BTEC and OCR.
I also work for Edexcel and QCA as an Invigilator/ Facilitator,
a position that entails visiting training centres/schools and invigilating the
“testing” of new Keyskills question papers.

I am a keyskills moderator
for OCR.
I design web sites for local
businesses.
In 2006 I completed ITQ
level 3 at Wiltshire
College. This is the only
college
offering ITQ in the south west at the present time. It was completed
via E portfolio.
Voluntary work:
My wife managers a local
charity shop and I work as a volunteer when needed. This ensures occupational
competency in Retail and Customer Service.
I recently completed Retail NVQ level 3 whilst
mentoring and supporting 14 other volunteers who are also taking part. This is
an LSC sponsored programme via Derby
College, an OCR centre.
I introduced the head of
training and development of the charity, Cancer Research UK, to NVQs and
